March 2004 Meeting. - rtf file FCG Development Group - 4th May 2004 Meeting 2 The Green Room (Dalgety Church) Attendees
The meeting opened with a prayer led by Rev. George Nicol. Amendment to previous minute“Co-ordinator” Paragraph reads: - ” It was agreed not to appoint a Co-ordinator until all churches are present” New minute amended to read: - ” It was agreed not to appoint a Co-ordinator until a future meeting” Minutes of previous meeting adopted. Co-ordinator Donald requested nominations for the position of co-ordinator. Jude Dunlop will be invited to the next ministerial team meeting to discuss the roles/responsibilities of the co-ordinator role. The outcome will be reported back to the next meeting. Vacancies Worship Holy Week/Easter George asked the Group to look for alternative opportunities for joint worship in future other than during Holy Week, which is traditionally one of the busiest times for each congregation. It was further suggested that 3 or 4 joint services a year be held on a rotational basis between parishes, starting at the beginning of each Church year namely for early September onwards. Initial Proposals 2. September 12th evening worship at North Queensferry. This date to be confirmed with Helen Leitch. Worship Teams/Leaders will be invited to give this further consideration. Songs of Praise Evening Sunday 23rd May, 6.30 p.m. at Dalgety Parish Church. The Dalgety Pilgrims are looking to make contact with others in the Group interested in participating in extending and developing a musical dimension in the area of worship. Pastoral Mission/Communication FCG Logo Use of the Logo as prepared by Alasdair Campbell was agreed with minor variations suggested. Alisdair will try to accommodate these. In making this decision, the group felt it was working within the remit it had been given. Christian Aid. Donald passed round a leaflet from 121 George St. and asked if the FCG could perhaps use it for Christian Aid week next year or for any general promotional items. Donald will find out what it would cost and report back. FCG Newsletter This is scheduled for June, possibly to coincide with the induction at St Fillan’s. Donald to co-ordinate. Adult Education Grouping Art & Faith evenings. These are scheduled for 4 successive Mondays commencing 17th May. All start at 8 pm and will last for approximately 1 hour. Summary detail of these evenings has been sent out on ‘e’ mail and also on the FCG website. Training for Elders Ogilvie Nicol to progress contact with David Blane on his return from holiday. Youth Ministry Those currently involved are:
Social/Administrative The Joint newsletter will include an article requesting volunteers to become involved in the administrative duties of FCG. AOB Business Cards for use by FCG: Donald raised the possibility of using these for various activities within FCG. George Owenson to liaise with Alasdair regarding the insertion of the FCG Logo onto the cards. A 250 sample will be purchased for trial purposes. Disabled Access Jim Westwood asked what was being done regarding the provision of disabled access in the respective parishes. It was felt that this matter should be referred to the respective property convenors to co-ordinate. It was generally felt that the Forth Churches Group as an entity requires to maintain an open-minded approach regarding its overall development in the pursuit of addressing the needs of its component parts. An Areas Team Ministry committee has been set up which has access to the services of a “team” consultant. George Nicol asked if some consultancy might be of assistance to the Group. Please let George know if you believe it would be worthwhile using this opportunity and he’ll report back to the next meeting. Next Meeting: 16th June at 7 p.m. at Dalgety Church in the Green Room.
